RIP RITUPARNA GHOSH ( Awards, Laurels , Sex change , controversy )

It was such a shocker when we heard about the news of Rituporno Ghosh that for a second we just sat there with open mouths like someone had stuffed a roll of tissue under it. Then came the small stream out of Mrina's eyes. She has been working really hard to put up this article that why RituParna Ghosh deserved a show at the Oscars with his emotion churning movies and then suddenly she gets to know that the man is dead.
For a person llike Mrina and many others who want to make movies that not only brushes the theaters and multiples screens but also touches the heart of millions.

Perhaps, we were expecting Ritu da to bring an Oscar. Very often his work was compared with Satyajit Ray- Yes, that was his skill.

The man won 12 National awards:

Many people believe that Rituparno Ghosh underwent a sex change. The man was known to appear in female outfits in public and his hand gestures corroborated the fact even more. That said and done it was quite obvious that the man didn't care much about the Bhadrolok Bengali community and their bickerings. The man was bold enough to face the world and follow his heart.

He lived for just 49 years. Just imagine, had he not lived the life he wanted, not undergone that change of sex (not sex change) then he would have died an unhappy person.

Not just the Bengali community but this entire generation who wanted to see a change and be the change whether on the screen or off it, have now lost their last lear !!
May his soul rest in peace. Amen !!

Star Bestsellers-"Ek Shaam Ki Mulakaat"- Irfan Khan, Tisca Chopra, Himani Shivpuri, Raghuvir Yadav, TIGMANSHU DHULIA

Star Bestsellers is an Indian television series that was originally telecast on Star Plus in 1999-2000. Each episode in the series is a separate story written and directed by young and upcoming writer-directors and it carried the special intensity for a different feeling but all about proper human condition and indicating that each person has something great at heart (love, affection etc.).
Writers and directors who worked in creating the episodes of the series include Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Imtiaz Ali, Sriram Raghavan and Hansal Mehta

This story is inspired by a gujrati story  and is a satire to the way we typecast women and their actions. It takes a man just seconds to demean a woman  but when it comes to reality it is certainly stranger than fiction.

The story is left hanging with a big Q as the large, insanely emotional eyes of Irrfan Khan tells the disbelief and reflects the anguish and pain of being jilted.

Directed and screenplay by the highly acclaimed Actor (Ramadheer Singh- Gangs of Wasseypur 1,2), director ( Pan Singh Tomar...) and theater artist Tigmanshu Dhulia  this film stars actors who have now accomplished a name for themselves internationally :-
Irrfan Khan
Tisca Chopra
Himani Shivpuri
Raghuvir Yadav

PITHA MAGAN (Son of ancestors) National Award winning film (Watch online here)

Some movies don't need voice. It speaks through the characters and flows through their acting. You don't need subtitles nor do we need a dubbed version to appreciate this story and to admire the acting.
This movie was first made in Tamil in 2003 and then later dubbed into many version but no one could play the role of Chithan as well as the national award winning actor-Vikram.
Watch this movie to break free of the usual crappy love shit. Watch the love between friends as it grows, watch a human being turn into an animal and then back to human.

Synopsis : (source : Wikipedia)
Pithamagan whirls around four characters. Chithan (Vikram) who is orphaned at a young age, devoid of all human contacts he lives on his animal instincts and ekes out a living as a graveyard caretaker. He seems to exhibit behaviour consistent with autism spectrum disorders. Gomathy (Sangeetha), a petty ganja seller, who pities Chithan’s condition, gets him a job at the ganja fields of the main villain. Sakthi (Suriya Sivakumar), the conman cons Manju (Laila), a polytechnic student but does not get away with it. Sakthi meets Chithan in jail and takes pity on him and befriends with him. It is Sakthi’s affection that melts Chithan’s stony heart. Sakthi takes Chithan along with him when they are both released from the jail. Sakthi and Manju later fall in love. Chithan works for a narcotics dealer, who is the antagonist. The dealer takes advantage of Chithan's innocence and orders Chithan to burn the corpse of a spy. Sakthi is angered when he discovers that Chithan had burned the corpse, as this could land Chithan in trouble. Sakthi requests Chithan not to work for the narcotics dealer anymore and takes Chithan along with him to work. This angers the villain and he eventually kills Sakthi when he return home with Manju after watching a movie. The next morning Sakthi's corpse is thrown in the middle of the village. Initially it seems as though Chithan is unaffected due to Sakthi's demise while the rest are mourning. Gomathy chases Chithan out of her house as she feels that it's because of Chithan that Sakthi was killed and it has not even impacted him. Chithan leaves the house and sets the ganja fields on fire and then goes to the villain's house and beats him black and blue. He then drags him to the village and kills him in front of Gomathy, Manju and the other villagers. He looks at Manju after killing the villain which moves Gomathy and she feels guilty as she mistook Chithan's silence when Sakthi was killed. She tries to persuade Chithan to stay with them but Chithan goes back to the graveyard where Sakthi was buried.

Neighbours (1952)- Acacdemy Award Winning ( Norman McLaren)

An 8minutes saga to show you how devastating could rivalry be. Who could have though that what started as a casual Sunday morning would lead to such monstrosity. And this is just a biopic to the greater and graver challenges we face when we let ourselves be a subject to the neighbor complex.

The movie starts on a slow note and throughout it continues in a melodramatic way. You might think for a second that what the heck is this? But, trust me fellas...if only you give it some time you will see the extraordinary style and capability of the director to catch the moments.

Besides, the background score is amazing. Just watch it. 8 minutes is not a huge time.

Neighbors (Short film) -Watch online just one click

There you go, this would seem like a deja-vu. We all have such noisy neighbors who corrode our happiness and serenity from life. We hate the domestic violence yet we cannot let ourselves be completely isolated from being involved in their lives.
But,
The main and the most interesting part of this short film is the climax in the second half.
The first half just builds the story but the second part gives it sense.
This movie is an amazing contrast between the two lifestyles. There are couples without any violence, always in a harmony but something within them makes their heart crawl. They have to squeeze hard to get drops of love from each other. And then there are those who fight, who spit venom and yet they fall back to their partners in times of distress. yet there is one thing that kills all relationship if not curbed -- LUST.
That is what this climax brings out.
All that stands between these two worlds is a thin wall.
